Bonitafest

Date:  09/29/2007

Our inaugural event was a complete success.  We had a fun filled day with exhibits that engaged, educated and entertained your children. We offered a variety of exhibits that included the following:

  Electricity City

The kids discovered the mystery behind static electricity. They experimented with various conductors of electricity such as rubbing their feet on carpet hoping to be able to shock their friends, as well as, rubbing balloons on their heads hoping to generate enough static to win at a game of static electricity tic-tac-toe. The kids also learned that weather can be a big factor when it comes to static electricity.

  Bubble-ology

This was definitely the hit of the day! The kids, and even some adults, explored the world of bubbles, learning about surface tension, how bubbles form and what makes them so strong. The children got to blow bubble gum for bragging rights and blow bubbles through a straw for an artistic adventure. Then there was the Bubble-ology show stopper... the "Human Bubble." The kids got a chance to stand inside a giant bubble that was lifted high above their heads! Believe me, it did not disappoint.

Community Faces

Our first community art project taught kids about various art forms then let them loose to see what form their own self portraits would take on. Some of the kids liked their self portraits so much they weren't willing to part with them. Although we would have loved to keep them all, making the kids happy is what we are all about. The second part of this art project gave the kids the opportunity to paint their own faces. We saw designs both simple and extravagant. One thing is for sure, we've got some really creative kids out there!
